Operational notes
What to watch out for on this route
- Berth congestion and yard dwell are the main schedule risk; build buffer into delivery promises.
- Cargo tracking note formalities apply to shipments into Cameroon — confirm the current requirement with your broker before the vessel sails, not after.
On the ground
Customs clearance in Cameroon
We can arrange destination clearance in Cameroon — import declaration, duty assessment, inspection coordination and release — through the clearing agents we work with in the country. One party is accountable from the supplier in China through to the vehicle released at destination, and there is no gap at the port where nobody is responsible.
Paperwork
Documents required
- Commercial invoice and packing list with chassis and engine numbers
- Bill of lading, telex release where agreed
- Certificate of origin where required by the buyer or the bank
- Cargo tracking note / electronic cargo tracking formalities — Cameroon requires a BESC/ECTN (Bordereau Électronique de Suivi des Cargaisons) for every shipment; the number must appear on the bill of lading. Only left-hand-drive vehicles are permitted; a Certificate of Conformity (COC) is required. Used-vehicle age practice is generally ≤10 years (some official lists cite a 15-year prohibition) — confirm the current basis with the broker before sailing.
- Pre-shipment inspection or age certificate where the destination requires one
Documentary requirements change and vary by commodity and consignee. This list is a starting point, not a compliance guarantee — the consignee’s licensed broker confirms what applies.

Can you ship machinery as well as vehicles to Douala?
Yes — construction and mining machinery moves on the same services, by container, breakbulk or on flat racks depending on size and weight.
